Early Dispute Resolution Required for Contested Separation and Divorce in Regina as of March 1, 2021

As of March 1, 2021, most family law matters in Regina will be required to go through an early family dispute resolution process before moving ahead with court proceedings. So, what does this mean for you? This means that if you want to go to court to sort through your separation and divorce, you will have to choose between available options including family mediation, collaborative law services, family law arbitration, and parent co-ordination.

Mediation is not well understood. It is often misunderstood. Google mediation and Meditation will pop up.
Mediation is a communication process whereby clients can meet with a Mediator to discuss their conflict.
A Mediator is a neutral educated professional who will guide the clients in their discussions.
The role of the Mediator is to encourage the clients to share their views, their needs and their interests. The clients will be encouraged to listen to the other client with the focus on understanding their priorities, expectations, assumptions, concerns and hopes.
The Mediation Process is a structured recognized process that allows the clients to fully explore their underlying issues.
